I have made it my mission to develop and produce ambitious documentary films for cinema and television—uncompromising films that give visual form to artistically pivotal visions and reflect upon socially relevant themes. In doing so, I am particularly drawn to singular personalities who embody a multifaceted, critical perspective on society—whether in the realms of art, culture, social issues, or politics.
Having focused primarily in recent years on unconventional artists holding extreme positions, I now wish to dedicate myself with equal intensity to social and sociopolitical themes: documentary films that address human rights violations, the subjugation of women, psychological and physical violence, structures of power and powerlessness, social and political injustice, and global inequities.
I have always been fascinated by radical abstract thought in art and the freedom inherent in its diverse creative possibilities. Now, I wish to apply that same intensity and radical spirit to film concepts extending beyond the realm of art. Nevertheless, the cinematic exploration of artists and their work will always remain my primary focus, as I continue to view myself as an artist; this artistic ethos and worldview have become an inseparable part of who I am.
Through in-depth interviews and an observational camera style, I immerse myself deeply in the thoughts and actions of my protagonists. For each film, I craft a unique cinematic language—one that remains true to the very essence of its subject matter. It is crucial to me to establish an intellectual and emotional intimacy with my subjects; to distill the core essence of each theme with precision—devoid of embellishment or filler; and to pursue a rigorously structured dramaturgy, underpinned by a clear visual aesthetic that avoids *l’art pour l’art*.
Furthermore, drawing upon my background in the visual arts, I am particularly intrigued by the challenge of developing new, genre-bending hybrid forms that blend elements of documentary, fiction, and animation.
